Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Edged by Kutztown in Overtime

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shannon Lake scored on a pass from Lailah ElBouazzaoui in overtime to lift Kutztown (9-3, 6-2 PSAC East) to a 10-9 win over Shepherd University (5-8, 1-7 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at  Ram Stadium on Wednesday. 

Junior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) led the Rams with three goals and two assists. 

Junior midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) and freshman attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) each added a pair of goals. Freshman attacker Rebekah Forney (Walkersville, Md./Mount De Sales) contributed a goal and an assist, while junior attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown) tallied a goal.

Sophomore midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and freshman attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) each added an assist. 

Lake had four goals and an assist and ElBouazzaoui added three goals and an assist for the Golden Bears. Emma Meakim recorded a goal and five assists.                                                                                                                       

Shepherd had a 5-3 lead at halftime. 

The Rams took a 9-5 lead into the fourth quarter, but Kutztown scored four unanswered goals to force overtime. 

Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 12 saves for the Rams. Jenna Blesson posted four saves for the Golden Bears. 

Kutztown had a 30-20 advantage in shots with a 22-13 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 19-of-26 in clears, while Kutztown was 16-of-19. The Rams had a 24-20 advantage in ground balls, while Kutztown had a 12-10 edge in draw controls. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg for a noon contest.
