WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three different players scored goals to lead Shepherd University (1-0) to a 3-1 win over UDC (0-1) in men's soccer action at UDC on Thursday. 

Junior forward Andrew West (Annandale, Va./Carlisle {Pa.}) opened the scoring on an assist from graduate student midfielder John Eskay (Damascus, Md./Urbana/South Carolina) at the 3:58 mark.

UDC tied the game on an unassisted tally by Ignacio Pericet at the 20:15 mark.

Shepherd took the lead on a goal by sophomore midfielder Asong Nkemanjong (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Howard) at the 49:29 mark. 

The Rams closed the scoring on an unassisted goal by junior forward/midfielder Mac Long (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/Hagerstown Community College) at the 52:43 mark. 

Senior Christian Blazes (Hagerstown, Md./Heritage Academy/Hagerstown CC) posted two saves in goal for the Rams. Bronson Shepherd (45:00 - 2 GA, 0 saves) and Sergio Becerra (45:00 – 1 GA, 2 saves) combined for four saves for the Firebirds. 

Shepherd had a 12-4 edge in shots with a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. UDC had a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. 

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Bloomfield for a 3 p.m. match.
