BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Shepherd University (1-1) dropped a 4-3 decision to Bloomfield (1-1) in men's soccer action at Bloomfield on Sunday.
Bloomfield took a 1-0 lead when Aboulaye Camara scored on a pass from Matiss Zegele at the 3:04 mark.
Shepherd tied the game when graduate student midfielder John Eskay (Damascus, Md./Urbana/South Carolina) scored on a feed from freshman midfielder Josue Guzman (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) at the 36:34 mark.
Bloomfield took a 2-1 into the break when Matiss Zegele scored on a pass from Aboulaye Camara at the 42:38 mark.
The Bears opened the second half scoring on an unassisted tally by Zegele at the 54:59 mark to take a 3-1 advantage.
The Rams got an unassisted goal by junior forward/midfielder Mac Long (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/Hagerstown Community College) at the 55:29 mark to cut the lead to 3-2.
Haitham Touma scored on an assist from Cristian Marroquin at the 57:38 mark to extend the lead to 4-2.
Junior forward Andrew West (Annandale, Va./Carlisle {Pa.}) completed the scoring when he scored on an assist from freshman midfielder Donik Elshani (Crofton, Md./Crofton) at the 77:18 mark.
Senior Christian Blazes (Hagerstown, Md./Heritage Academy/Hagerstown CC) posted three saves in goal for the Rams. Matthew Brun recorded nine saves for the Bears.
Shepherd had a 21-11 edge in shots with a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd had a 17-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Frostburg State for a 3:30 p.m. match.
