Gable Leads Shepherd Women’s Soccer Past Pitt-Johnstown in Season Opener

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead Shepherd University (1-0)  to a 3-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown (0-1) in women's soccer action at Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday.

Pitt-Johnstown took a 1-0 lead when Haley Neidig scored an unassisted goal at the 6:12 mark.

Gable scored on a feed from sophomore midfielder Adrianna Morales (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) at the 33;23 mark to tie the game.

Junior midfielder Delaney Bittner (York, Pa./Red Lion Area Senior) scored on an assist from Gable as the 46:31 mark.

The Rams added an insurance goal at the 77:52 mark when Gable scored on a pass from Bittner.

Shepherd had a 18-8 advantage in shots with an 11-3 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded a pair of saves in goal for the Rams. Megan Giesey (3) and Parker Grimm (5) combined for eight saves for the Mountain Cats.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Chowan at 1 p.m. for the home opener.
