CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Shepherd University (0-2) dropped a pair of matches at the Cedarville Invitational in volleyball action on Friday. The Rams dropped a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 decision to Palm Beach Atlantic (1-0) and later dropped a 25-21, 25-13, 25-23 decision to host Cedarville (1-0).
Junior middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had nine kills and four blocks to pace the Rams against Palm Beach Atlantic.
Junior middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) recorded five blocks, while senior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 12 assists and five digs. Redshirt-junior libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) added a match-high 18 digs.
Abbie Zylstra had 14 kills and Jayden Otto added 27 assists and 10 digs to lead Palm Beach Atlantic.
Freshman outside hitter Jordan Pryor (Middletown, Md./Middletown) led the Rams with eight kills against Cedarville.
Fairweather added five kills and three blocks, while sophomore setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) added 11 assists. Ellis topped the Rams with 10 digs.
Greta Blakemore had 14 kills and three aces to lead the Yellow Jackets. Kaley Matney added 36 assists and nine digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they take on Glenville State at 9 a.m. and UNC Pembroke at 4:30 p.m. in final day tourney action.
