FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Shepherd University (5-8) recorded a five-set win over Fairmont State (6-8) in non-conference volleyball action at Fairmont State on Tuesday night. The Rams rallied for a 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 15-10 victory.
Freshman outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) had a team-high 17 kills, and freshman outside hitter Jordan Pryor (Middletown, Md./Middletown) added 16 to pace the Rams. Junior middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) posted nine kills and six block assists.
Junior middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) had a match-high seven blocks, while senior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) had 46 assists, 14 digs, and five aces. Senior libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded a team-high 26 digs.
Joey Borelle recorded a match-high 22 kills and 15 digs to pace the Fighting Falcons. Josie Nobbe added 15 kills.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Shippensburg for a 7 p.m. match.
