SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) scored 18 points and senior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added 17 to lead Shepherd (7-10, 4-8 PSAC) to a 74-54 win over Shippensburg (5-14, 2-12 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night. Jordan (1,007) went over 1,000 points for his career.
McClain-Corley hit on 8-of-16 field goals with a 2-of-6 effort from three-point range. He added five boards, two assists, and a steal. Jordan connected on 7-of-17 field goals with a 1-of-4 effort from three-point range. He was 2-of-2 from the line. Jordan grabbed six boards and handed out three assists.
Junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Freshman guard Michael Cooper (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) contributed nine points, four rebounds, three steals, and a pair of blocked shots.
Kyle Whippen had nine points and nine boards to pace the Raiders. Markus Frank added eight points and eight rebounds.
Shepherd had a 36-28 lead at halftime.
Shepherd connected on 42.1 percent (32-76) of its field goals with a 26.9 percent (7-26) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 60 percent (3-5) of their free throws.
Shippensburg shot 35.1 percent (20-57) from the floor with a 30.8 percent (8-26) effort from beyond the arc. The Raiders hit 54.5 percent (6-11) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 47-38 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 15 turnovers and committed seven.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Kutztown for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
