KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Taylor Gursch scored a game-high 17 points to lead Kutztown (11-9, 9-5 PSAC) to an 85-44 win over Shepherd University (5-14, 3-11 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Kutztown on Wednesday night.
Graduate student forward Cara Minor (Hundred, W.Va./North Marion) led the Rams with 10 points and seven rebounds. Minor connected on 3-of-7 field goals with a 2-of-3 effort from three-point range. She was 2-of-2 from the foul line.
Freshman forward Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had seven points and seven boards. Freshman guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) and junior guard Jordan Carr (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) each added six points.
Leila Hurley scored 13 points for Kutztown. Sydney Pierson added seven points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Kutztown had a 38-19 lead at halftime.
Shepherd shot 26.3 percent (15-57) from the floor with a 25 percent (4-16) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 66.7 percent (10-15) of their free throws.
Kutztown shot 51.8 percent (15-51) from the floor with a 48.4 percent (15-31) effort from three-point range. The Golden Bears shot 70.6 percent (12-17) from the foul line.
Kutztown had a 38-36 edge in the boards. The Rams forced 10 turnovers and committed 15.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
