Shepherd Women Downed by East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Emily Chieml scored 16 points and Izzy Vogel and Carley Adams each added 15 to lead East Stroudsburg (4-8, 2-5 PSAC) to an 84-76 win over Shepherd University (3-9, 1-6 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday afternoon. 

Sophomore guard Peyton Grant (Plymouth, Maine/Dexter Regional) scored a game-high 17 points to pace the Rams. She hit 5-of-10 field goals with a 5-of-9 effort from three-point range. She was 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. 

Junior guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) added a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had eight points and nine boards, while junior guard Deaira Hairston (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) tossed in nine points. 

Katie Geisler and Cassidy Saylor each added 12 points for the Warriors. Saylor added eight rebounds and a game-high six assists. 

East Stroudsburg had a 39-35 lead at halftime. 

The Rams trailed by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter but rallied to within five points at 79-74 after a three-pointer by Grant with 1:00 to play. They would get no closer. 

Shepherd shot 39.3 percent (22-56) from the floor with a 47.1 percent (8-17) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 80 percent (24-30) of their free throws. 

East Stroudsburg shot 44.6 percent (29-65) from the floor with a 37.5 percent (3-8) effort from three-point range. The Warriors shot 62.2 percent (23-37) from the foul line. 

East Stroudsburg had a 48-36 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 15. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Chester for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
