Shepherd Men Fall to East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Justin Paz scored a game-high 15 points to lead East Stroudsburg (11-1, 6-1 PSAC)  to a 66-47 win over Shepherd (5-7, 2-5 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday afternoon. 

Senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) led the Rams with 11 points. Senior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added 10 points, while freshman guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) contributed eight points and eight rebounds.                                                                                         

Lakeem McAliley added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors. Tyshawn Trail added 11 points, while Cam Young scored 10. 

The Warriors had a 31-26 lead at the break. 

Shepherd trailed by just seven points at 45-38 after a jumper by McClain-Corley with 7:24 left to play. East Stroudsburg proceeded on an 8-0 run to build a 15-point advantage en route to the win.  

Shepherd connected on 35.4 percent (16-49) of its field goals with a 10.5 percent (2-19) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 61.9 percent (13-21) of their free throws. 

East Stroudsburg shot 35.4 percent (17-48) from the floor with a 33.3 percent (9-27) effort from beyond the arc. The Warriors hit 71.9 percent (23-32) from the foul line. 

Rebounds were even at 35-all. The Rams forced 18 turnovers and committed 18. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Chester for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
