SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior midfielder Sarah Peternel (Wolfeboro, NH/Virtual Learning Academy Charter School/University of New Hampshire) scored on a pass from junior forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) at the 52:03 mark to lift  #17 Shepherd University (7-1-3, 7-1-1 PSAC East) to a 1-0 win over Bloomsburg (7-4-0, 5-4-0 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.
 
Shepherd had a 21-1 edge in shots with a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal. The  Rams had a 4-3 margin in corner kicks.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Wilt (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) recorded one save in a shutout effort for the Rams. Samantha Merkin had 11 saves for the Huskies.
 
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
