#16 Shepherd Women’s Soccer Knocks Off Kutztown

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Sophomore midfielder Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) scored on a pass from junior forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) at the 78:33 mark to lift 16th-ranked Shepherd University (9-1-4, 9-1-2 PSAC East) to a 2-1 win over Kutztown (8-2-5, 6-2-5 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.
 
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead when senior forward Sofia Carrera (New Market, Md./Oakdale) scored off a pass from sophomore midfielder Reagan Ackermann (Myersville, Md./Middletown/UNC Wilmington) at the 7:32 mark. 
 
Kutztown, receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll,  tied the game at the 34:34 mark on an unassisted goal by Caroline McDonald.
 
Kutztown had a 11-10 edge in shots with Shepherd holding a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Wilt (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) recorded three saves for the Rams. Cassidy Howes had three saves for the Golden Bears.
 
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mansfield for a 3 p.m. contest.
