SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior midfielder Sarah Peternel (Wolfeboro, NH/Virtual Learning Academy Charter School/University of New Hampshire) scored off a pass from junior midfielder Josie Beezel (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore) at the 78:33 mark to lift 14th-ranked Shepherd University (14-1-4) to a 2-1 win over Bloomsburg (9-5-5) in PSAC Women's Soccer Tournament action at Shepherd on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead into the break when junior forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Reagan Ackermann (Myersville, Md./Middletown/UNC Wilmington) at the 29:03 mark.
 
Bloomsburg tied the game when Erin Ranagan scored on a header off a corner kick by Anna Dalesandro at the 54:02 mark to tie the game at 1-1.
 
Shepherd had a 14-6 edge in shots and a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Bloomsburg had a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Wilt (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) recorded one save for the Rams. Samantha Merklin had five saves for the Huskies.
 
The Rams advance to the tournament semifinals on Friday when they travel to Gannon to face Slippery Rock. The contest is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
