WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Kyler D'Augustino scored a game-high 19 points to lead 17th-ranked West Liberty (3-0) to a 92-72 win over Shepherd (2-2) in men's basketball action at West Liberty on Saturday.
Freshman guard
Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) led the Rams with 16 points. He connected on 6-of-13 field goals with a 3-of-8 effort from beyond the arc. Davis was 1-of-2 from the foul line. He added five rebounds.
Graduate student forward
Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) added
a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior forward
Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) had 13 points and nine boards, while senior guard
Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) was also in double figures with 10 points.
JJ Harper scored 18 points for the Hilltoppers. Finley Woodward had 16, while Dante Spadafora and Kameron Tinsley each tossed in 11.
Shepherd connected on 37.5 percent (24-64) of its field goals with a 30.8 percent (8-26) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 67 percent (16-24) of their free throws.
West Liberty shot 46.2 percent (36-78) from the floor with a 20 percent (7-35) effort from beyond the arc. The Hilltoppers hit 76.5 percent (13-17) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 47-42 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced three turnovers and committed 17.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Seton Hill for a 5 p.m. contest.
