SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – KJ Riley fired a 25-yard scoring pass to Jerry Griffen-Batchler on the first play of the second overtime session to lead Bloomsburg (5-4, 3-3 PSAC East) to a 27-21 win over Shepherd (5-4, 3-3 PSAC East) in PSAC East football action at Ram Stadium on Saturday.
Bloomsburg took a 7-0 lead when Riley teamed with Peyton Persing on a 72-yard scoring pass with 13:32 left in the first quarter.
Redshirt sophomore running back
Jordan Barnett (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge/FUMA/Southern Utah) took the snap and scored on a two-yard plunge with 6:13 left in the second quarter.
Bloomsburg took a 14-7 lead when Riley fired an 18-yard scoring pass to Griffen-Batchler with 4:55 left in the third quarter.
Graduate student running back
Grant Swinehart (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby/VMI) scored on a two-yard plunge with 6:55 left in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Shepherd scored on the first play in overtime when redshirt junior quarterback
Lek Powell (Carlisle, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) fired a 25-yard scoring strike to senior wide receiver
Jeremiah Taylor (Upper Marlboro, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School/Fairmont State).
Bloomsburg answered back on a three-yard scoring toss from Riley to Owen Anderson.
After Bloomsburg's second overtime score, Shepherd drove to the Bloomsburg four-yard line, but Shepherd's fourth down pass attempt fell incomplete and the Huskies held on for the win.
Shepherd had 298 yards of total offense while Bloomsburg totaled 346.
Powell completed 28-of-34 passes for 180 yards for the Rams. Riley completed 22-of-36 passes for 302 yards for the Huskies.
Senior wide receiver
Barry Hill (Highland Springs, Va./Varina/West Virginia State) had nine catches for 39 yards to lead the Shepherd receivers. Griffen-Batchler had 11 catches for 157 yards to lead Bloomsburg.
Redshirt sophomore running back
Jordan Barnett (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge/FUMA/Southern Utah) had 13 carries for 76 yards to lead the Shepherd ground game. Hunter Lino had nine carries for 30 yards for the Huskies.
Senior linebacker
Harold O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Harrisburg (Pa.)) led the Rams with nine tackles (six solos). Junior linebacker
JT Kouame-Yao (Centreville, Va./Westfield) added eight stops (three solos), while redshirt junior defensive back
Geo-Di Tolbert (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass/Fairmont State) contributed seven stops (six solos) and a forced fumble. Ryan D'Ambra had a game-high 12 tackles (four solos) for the Huskies.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 1:05 contest.
