EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Sean McTaggart completed 17-of-23 passes for 196 yards and a pair of scores to lead East Stroudsburg (9-1, 7-1 PSAC East) to a 28-7 win over Shepherd (5-5, 3-4 PSAC East) in PSAC East football action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
East Stroudsburg took a 7-0 lead when McTaggart scored on a one-yard plunge with 11:17 left in the first quarter.
McTaggart teamed with Evan Roche on an 11-yard scoring pass with 7:07 left in the second quarter to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead at the intermission.
Shepherd opened the second half scoring on an 11-yard touchdown pass from redshirt junior quarterback
Lek Powell (Carlisle, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) to senior wide receiver
Barry Hill (Highland Springs, Va./Varina/West Virginia State) with 13:18 left in the third quarter.
The score was set up by a 70-yard kickoff return by sophomore defensive back
Miles Greer (Springfield, Va./South County).
East Stroudsburg added a pair of fourth quarter scores to secure the win.
McTaggert teamed with Roche on a 25-yard scoring pass with 1018 remaining and Tyriq Lewis scored on a one-yard plunge with 7:01 left.
Shepherd had 215 yards of total offense while East Stroudsburg totaled 322.
Powell completed 17-of-21 passes for 116 yards for the Rams.
Junior wide receiver
Cameron Dorner (New Market, Md./Oakdale) had six receptions for 35 yards to lead the Shepherd receivers. John Siggins had five catches for 85 yards to lead East Stroudsburg.
Redshirt sophomore running back
Jordan Barnett (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge/FUMA/Southern Utah) had eight carries for 55 yards to lead the Shepherd ground game. Lewis had 15 carries for 60 yards for the Warriors.
Senior linebacker
Harold O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Harrisburg (Pa.)) led the Rams with eight tackles (one solo). Redshirt freshman linebacker
Brodie Carroll (Catharpin, Va./Battlefield) added six stops (one solo) with a tackle-for-loss. Redshirt junior defensive back
Klayton Batten (Waldorf, Md./St. Charles) added four tackles (three solos) and an interception. Mason Smith had a game-high 12 tackles (three solos) for the Warriors.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Seton Hill for a noon contest.
