GREENSBURG, Pa. – Christiane Frye scored a game-high 22 points to lead Seton Hill (5-0, 1-0 PSAC) to an 86-52 win over Shepherd University (2-3, 0-1 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Seton Hill on Friday.
Frye hit 7-of-13 field goals with a 1-of-5 performance from three-point range. She sank 7-of-7 free throws.
Sophomore guard
Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) led the Rams with 12 points. Wehner connected on 5-of-15 shots with a 1-of-5 effort from three-point range. She was 1-of-3 from the line. She added four rebounds and a team-high three assists.
Sophomore forward
Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) added 10 points and tied senior guard
Jordan Carr (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) for team-high rebounding honors with seven. Sophomore guard
Cassidy Rhodes (Point of Rocks, Md./Brunswick) and Carr each tossed in nine points.
Abby Mankins and Helene Cowan each added 14 points for the Griffins. Mia Kalich scored 12 points and had a game-high six steals.
Shepherd connected on 35.9 percent (21-59) of its field goals with 20 percent effort (4-20) from three-point range. The Rams drained 66.7 percent (6-9) of their free throws.
Seton Hill had a 41.8 percent (28-67) field goal percentage with a 20 percent (5-25) effort from beyond the arc. The Griffins hit 73.5 percent (25-34) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 42-41 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 13 turnovers and committed 30.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to California (Pa.) for a 6 p.m. game.
