CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Talia Galliard scored 16 points and Allycia Harris added 14 to lead California (Pa.) (4-3, 1-1 PSAC) to a 70-52 win over Shepherd University (2-4, 0-2 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at California (Pa.) on Saturday night.
Sophomore forward
Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) led the Rams with 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Bowman hit 5-of-9 field goals.
Junior guard
Annie Hunt (Ravenswood, W.Va./Ravenswood/Wheeling) added eight points, while sophomore guard
Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian), sophomore guard
Cassidy Rhodes (Point of Rocks, Md./Brunswick), and freshman guard
Trinity Turner (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) each tossed in seven. Wehner also dished out a game-high four assists.
Sierra Bermudez added 13 points and five rebounds for the Vulcans.
The Vulcans had a 33-28 lead at the half as Galliard and Harris each had 10 first-half points. Cal outscored Shepherd 22-11 in the third quarter to pull away for the win.
Shepherd connected on 34.5 percent (19-55) of its field goals with 33.3 percent effort (4-12) from three-point range. The Rams drained 66.7 percent (10-15) of their free throws.
California (Pa.) had a 41.8 percent (28-67) field goal percentage with a 20 percent (5-25) effort from beyond the arc. The Vulcans hit 73.5 percent (25-34) from the foul line.
The Vulcans had a 44-43 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 13 turnovers and committed 26.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Bowie State for a 5 p.m. game.
