Shepherd Men Downed by #17 Gannon

ERIE, Pa. – Ernest Shelton scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead 17th-ranked Gannon (9-2, 5-0 PSAC) to a 92-72 win over Shepherd University (7-4, 3-1 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Gannon on Tuesday.

Senior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) led the Rams with 13 points. He connected on 4-of-6 field goals and was 1-of-3 from beyond the arc. Robinson was 4-of-6 from the line. He also grabbed six rebounds and handed out five assists.

Freshman guard Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added 12 points, while sophomore guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) had 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Graduate student forward Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while freshman guard Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) tossed in nine points on a 3-of-9 effort from three-point range.

Tasman Goodrick and Justin Debuck each added 15 points for the Golden Knights.

Gannon had a 40-31 lead at halftime.

Shepherd connected on 44.6 percent (25-56) of its field goals with a 32.1 percent (9-28) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 50 percent (13-26) of their free throws.

Gannon shot 43.6 percent (34-78) from the floor with a 22.2 percent (94-18) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Knights hit 74.1 percent (20-27) from the foul line.

Gannon had a 50-37 advantage in rebounds. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed 25.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 3 p.m. contest.
