MANSFIELD, Pa. – Senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) scored 18 points and senior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added 16 points and a career-high eight assists to lead Shepherd (10-12, 7-10 PSAC) to a 77-60 win over Mansfield (6-16, 4-13 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Mansfield on Saturday afternoon.
McClain-Corley connected on 7-of-13 field goals with a 4-of-7 effort from three-point range.
Junior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) added his second double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) had 13 points, five boards, and three assists, while junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) was also in double figures with 10 points.
Saraj Ali, Manir Waller, and Scott Woodring each had 10 points pace the Mountaineers. Waller also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Shepherd had a 34-21 advantage at halftime.
Mansfield trailed by just nine points at 57-48 after a three-pointer by Waller with 7:52 left in regulation. Shepherd proceeded on an 11-2 run to pull away for the win.
Shepherd connected on 47.5 percent (28-59) of its field goals with a 55.6 percent (15-27) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 60 percent (6-0) of their free throws.
Mansfield shot 41.4 percent (24-58) from the floor with a 20.8 percent (5-24) effort from beyond the arc. The Mountaineers hit 70 percent (7-10) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 40-31 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 10 turnovers and committed seven.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Millersville for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
