Shepherd Men Fall to Millersville in Double Overtime

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Jaden Faulkner had 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists to lead Millersville (19-4, 14-3 PSAC) to an 87-83 double overtime win over Shepherd (10-13, 7-11 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night.

Junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) led the Rams with a game-high 29 points. He connected on 9-of-18 field goals with a 5-of-7 effort from three-point range. His 29 points was a career-high effort. Poffenberger posted his second double-double of the season with a team-high 10 boards.

Senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) added 17 points and seven assists, while senior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) had 13 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

Junior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) contributed 16 points, seven boards, and a game-high four steals.

Drew Stover added 16 points, Day Waters had 15, and Jahme Ested had 10 for the Marauders. Matt Dade posted a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Shepherd had a 30-29 lead at the half.

The contest featured 15 lead changes and seven ties. Stover hit a layup with six seconds left in regulation for the Marauders to force overtime. McClain-Corley hit a last-second jumper in the first overtime session to force another. Millersville outscored Shepherd, 8-4, in the second overtime to secure the win.

Shepherd connected on 43.8 percent (32-73) of its field goals with a 46.2 percent (12-26) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 77.8 percent (7-9) of their free throws.

Millersville shot 56.1 percent (37-66) from the floor with a 42.1 percent (8-19) effort from beyond the arc. The Marauders hit 55.6 percent (5-9) from the foul line.

Millersville had a 41-34 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed10.

The Rams return to action Saturday when they host Lock Haven for Alumni Day. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
