SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Isaiah Stewart had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead Lock Haven (17-6, 15-3 PSAC) to a 60-49 win over Shepherd (10-14, 7-12 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) led the Rams with 14 points. He connected on 6-of-13 field goals with a 1-of-5 effort from three-point range. He hit 1-of-2 free throws.
Freshman guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) also tossed in 11 points. Junior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) tied Lock Haven's Jalen Gorham with a game-high eight rebounds.
Justice Shoats added 17 points and four assists for the Bald Eagles.
Lock Haven had a 29-21 lead at the break.
After the Bald Eagles built a 19-point lead early in the second half, Shepherd rallied to within nine points at 46-37 after a three-point play by Poffenberger with 6:53 remaining. Lock Haven responded with an 8-0 run to take control of the contest.
Shepherd connected on 30.8 percent (20-65) of its field goals with a 28.6 percent (8-28) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 20 percent (1-5) of their free throws.
Lock Haven shot 46.8 percent (22-47) from the floor with a 45 percent (9-20) effort from beyond the arc. The Bald Eagles hit 58.3 percent (7-12) from the foul line.
Lock Haven had a 42-33 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed seven.
The Rams return to action Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 3 p.m. game.
