BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) and junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) each scored 20 points to lead Shepherd (11-14, 8-12 PSAC) to an 80-58 win over Bloomsburg (5-21, 3-17 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Bloomsburg on Saturday.
McClain-Corley connected on 7-of-10 field goals with a 2-of-5 effort from three-point range. He hit 4-of-6 free throws. Poffenberger drained 7-of-9 field goals with a 2-of-3 effort from beyond the arc. He was 4-of-4 from the foul line.
Senior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, He also had four assists and four steals. Junior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) just missed out on a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.
Desmond Freeman had 19 points and Matt Bengel added 17 for the Huskies.
Shepherd had a 39-17 lead at the break.
Shepherd connected on 52.6 percent (30-57) of its field goals with a 36 percent (9-25) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 78.6 percent (11-14) of their free throws.
Bloomsburg shot 45.1 percent (23-51) from the floor with a 32.8 percent (8-25) effort from beyond the arc. The Huskies hit 80 percent (4-5) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 35-22 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 10 turnovers and committed 18.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Shippensburg for an 8 p.m. contest.
