SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior guards Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) and Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) each scored 19 points to lead Shepherd (12-14, 9-12 PSAC) to a 73-65 win over Shippensburg (8-20, 4-18 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Shippensburg on Wednesday evening.
McClain-Corley connected on 7-of-14 field goals with a 3-of-9 effort from three-point range. He hit 2-of-3 free throws. Jordan drained 7-of-13 field goals with a 3-of-6 effort from beyond the arc. He was 2-of-2 from the foul line. McClain-Corley added six boards, while Jordan had a game-high six assists and four boards.
Junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 13 points and freshman guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) contributed 10 points, seven boards, and five assists. Junior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with seven points.
Markus Frank led the Raiders with 15 points. Michael Dunn had nine points, while Satchel Ball added eight points and seven rebounds.
Shepherd had a 34-28 advantage at the break.
The game was tied at 57-57 after Frank hit one of two free throws for the Raiders with 5:25 left in regulation. Shepherd proceeded on a 10-0 run and held a lead of seven points or more the rest of the way.
Shepherd connected on 45.8 percent (27-59) of its field goals with a 35,5 percent (11-31) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 61.5 percent (8-13) of their free throws.
Shippensburg shot 42.6 percent (23-54) from the floor with a 39.4 percent (13-33) effort from beyond the arc. The Raiders hit 54.5 percent (6-11) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 37-30 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed nine.
The Rams return to the Butcher Center on Saturday for Senior Day. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
