BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Katelin Starr had a game-high 19 points to lead Bloomsburg (8-18, 6-14 PSAC) to a 66-59 win over Shepherd University (6-19, 4-16 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Bloomsburg on Saturday.
Junior guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) led the Rams with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to post her second double-double of the season. She hit on 7-of-11 field goals with a 1-of-1 effort from three-point range. She was 2-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Freshman guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) added 14 points and five assists, while junior guard Jordan Carr (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) contributed 12 points and six boards. Sophomore guard Peyton Grant (Plymouth, Maine/Dexter Regional) tossed in nine points.
Maddie LaFrance added 13 points and Lauren Kirsch had 12 for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg had a 36-29 lead at halftime.
Shepherd rallied in the fourth quarter and held a 52-49 lead with 4:32 left after Grant hit back-to-back three-pointers and a free throw. Bloomsburg closed the game on a 17-7 run to pull away for the win.
Shepherd shot 38.9 percent (21-54) from the floor with a 38.5 percent (5-13) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 66.7 percent (12-18) of their free throws.
Bloomsburg shot 39.3 percent (24-61) from the floor with a 22.2 percent (4-18) effort from three-point range. The Huskies shot 82.4 percent (14-17) from the foul line.
Bloomsburg had a 37-34 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 17.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 6 p.m. contest.
