WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Shepherd University (16-20, 11-13 PSAC East) split a doubleheader to West Chester (32-6, 18-6 PSAC East) in PSAC East baseball action at West Chester on Saturday. The Rams gained a 9-7 win in game one, while West Chester posted a 9-6 win in the nightcap. The game one win for the Rams snapped a 21-game win streak for West Chester.

Junior shortstop
Greg Borges (Odenton, Md./Avalon Day School/Allegany College of Maryland) reached on a walk and later scored on a passed ball in the third to increase the lead to 5-3.
West Chester scored three in the third and one in the fourth to take a 7-5 lead.
Shepherd tied the game in the fifth on two-run blast by Borges.
Shepherd took the lead in the sixth on an RBI-single by redshirt junior
Sam Daggers (Galloway, N.J./Absegami/Rowan Gloucester CC).
Shepherd added a run in the seventh on a run-scoring single off the bat of senior outfielder
Idris Carter (Uniondale, N.Y./Roosevelt/Stony Brook).
Borges went 2-for-2 with four runs scored to lead the Rams.
Senior pitcher
Chris Chaney (Falling Waters, W.Va./Saint James/Maryland) (4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 3 BB) (5-3) picked up the win. Kyle Lazer (1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 UER, 3 K, 0 BB) (1-0) took the loss.
West Chester used a 13-hit attack to get the win in the nightcap.
Avery Spencer went 3-for-4 to lead the Golden Rams.
Junior outfielder
Mike Guzzardo (Mullica Hill, N.J./Bish. Eustace Prep/RCSJ Cumberland) paced the Rams with a 2-for-4 effort with four RBI. Graduate student third baseman
Connor Dewees (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) added a 2-for-3 outing.
Joe Sperone (5.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 10 K, 2 BB) (5-1) gained the win. Sophomore pitcher
Brayden Stottlemyer (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 K, 0 BB) (0-1) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Liberty for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
