MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Ashlyn Simonetti and Ella Linthicum each scored four goals to lead Millersville (5-10, 3-8 PSAC East) to a 20-8 win over Shepherd University (5-11, 3-9 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Millersville on Wednesday.
Senior midfielder
Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored three goals to lead the Rams. She added a team-high five draw controls, a game-high tying (with Paredes and Mary Moraca of Millersville) four ground balls, and tied junior defender
Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) with a team-high three caused turnovers. Stoner completes her career as the program's all-time leader in draw controls with 230. Stoner's three goals today allowed her to reach the 100-point mark for her career.
Junior attacker
Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) and junior midfielder
Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) each tallied a pair of goals, while freshman midfielder
Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) added a goal and an assist.
Rachel Keeney and Kaleigh Funk each had three goals and an assist for the Marauders.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 11 saves for the Rams. KC O'Neill posted nine saves for the Marauders.
Millersville had a 40-24 advantage in shots with a 31-17 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 12-of-16 in clears, while Millersville was 14-of-20. Millersville had a 22-14 advantage in ground balls. Shepherd forced 13 turnovers and committed 15. The Marauders held a 20-12 edge in draw controls.
