NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Senior midfielder
Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and junior defender
Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) of the Shepherd University women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2024 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II All-Atlantic Region Team. Stoner and Witmer earned second team honors and became the first Shepherd women's lacrosse players to garner All-Region honors.
Stoner topped the team in draw controls (67), while ranking second in ground balls (42) and caused turnovers (28). She added 22 goals and six assists for 28 points. She completed her career with the Rams as the program's all-time leader in draw controls with 230. She reached the 100-point total for her career with 66 goals and 34 assists. Her six-goal, 11-draw control effort led Shepherd to a 19-15 upset win over Millersville.
Witmer anchored the Shepherd defense. She recorded a team-best 32 caused turnovers and a team-best 48 ground balls. She added 11 draw controls and one goal.
The IWLCA honored 128 student-athletes in Division II with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2024. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the Division II 2024 All-American teams on May 22.
