Shepherd Women’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten with 3-0 Win over #21 East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –Shepherd University (3-0-2, 3-0-0 PSAC East) ran its unbeaten streak to nine games dating back to last season with a 3-0 win over #21 East Stroudsburg (3-1-1, 2-1-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday. The win over a ranked opponent was a program first.
 
Sophomore midfielder Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) scored on an assist from junior forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) at the 33:07 mark to give the Rams a 1-0 advantage at the break.
 
Sophomore midfielder Reagan Ackermann (Myersville, Md./Middletown/UNC Wilmington) found the back of the net on a feed from Gable at the 53:41 mark to increase the lead to 2-0.
 
Shepherd closed the scoring when senior midfielder Sarah Peternel (Wolfeboro, NH/Virtual Learning Academy Charter School/University of New Hampshire) scored on a pass from Gable at the 64:12 mark.
 
Shepherd held an 11-7 edge in shots with an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Wilt (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert)  had three saves in a shutout effort for the Rams. Emmy Clarkson had five saves for the Warriors.
 
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Mansfield at 1 p.m.
