Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and senior guard
Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) added 15 points and eight boards to lead Shepherd University (10-6, 6-3 PSAC) to a 63-52 win over Millersville (8-7, 4-5 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday afternoon.
Banks hit 6-of-14 field goals with a 1-of-5 effort from three-point range He was 3-of-7 from the foul line. He added a team-high three assists. Robinson was 4-of-5 from the floor with a 3-of-3 effort from three-point range. He was 4-for-4 from the line. He tied senior forward
Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) with a team-high three steals.
Graduate student forward
Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) added 11 points, five rebounds, and a game-high four blocked shots.
Saraj Ali had 16 points to lead the Marauders. Jahme Ested added 11 points, while Drew Stover had nine points and eight rebounds.
Shepherd had a 30-28 advantage at halftime behind 10
first-half points from
Robinson.
After Shepherd built a double-digit second-half lead, Millersville rallied to within five points at 44-39 after a layup by Jahme Ested with 10:43 left. The Rams closed the game on a 19-13 run to cap the victory.
Shepherd connected on 41.5 percent (22-53) of its field goals with a 37.5 percent (6-16) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 68.4 percent (13-19) of their free throws.
Millersville shot 42.6 percent (23-54) from the floor with a 33.3 percent (4-12) effort from beyond the arc. The Marauders hit 40 percent (2-5) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 36-31 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed 13.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Lock Haven for a 7:30 p.m. game.
