Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) scored 17 points and sophomore guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added 16 to lead Shepherd University (11-6, 7-3 PSAC) to a 73-64 win over Lock Haven (7-8, 4-5 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday evening.
Paar connected on 8-of-11 field goals with a 1-of-3 effort from the line. He added four rebounds, four assists, and four blocked shots. Banks hit 6-of-10 field goals with a 4-for-4 performance at the foul line.
Sophomore forward
Cole Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) added 12 points, while senior forward
Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) was a rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Eli Washington scored 22 points and Kevin Coleman added 20 for the Bald Eagles
Shepherd had a 32-31 lead at halftime behind 10 first-half points from Banks.
The Rams opened the second half on a 20-7 run to open up a 14-point lead. Shepherd would hold a lead of nine points or more for the remainder of the game.
Shepherd connected on 54.7 percent (29-53) of its field goals with a 37.5 percent (6-16) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 56.3 percent (9-16) of their free throws.
Lock Haven shot 43.3 percent (23-54) from the floor with a 44.4 percent (8-18) effort from beyond the arc. The Bald Eagles hit 66.7 percent (4-6) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 37-27 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced six turnovers and committed 11.
The Rams return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
