Shepherd Men Down Shippensburg For Sixth Straight Win

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Graduate student forward Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Shepherd University (14-6, 10-3 PSAC)  to a 65-51 win over Shippensburg (7-12, 3-9 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Shippensburg on Wednesday night. The Rams ran their winning streak to six games.

Paar connected on 7-of-10 field goals with a 1-of-1 effort from three-point range. He was 5-of-8 from the line. He added a game-high four blocked shots and a pair of assists.

Sophomore guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added nine points, six rebounds, and four assists. Senior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) had nine points and eight boards, while freshman guard Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added seven points and seven rebounds.

Markus Franks had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Raiders. Timmy Conner added 14 points, while Trey Martin had 11.
 
Shepherd had a 38-28 lead at halftime behind nine first-half points from Paar.
 
Shepherd led by as many as 16 points in the second half and never trailed in the contest.

Shepherd connected on 39.7 percent (25-63) of its field goals with a 32 percent (8-25) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 58.3 percent (7-12) of their free throws.

Shippensburg shot 41.4 percent (24-58) from the floor with an 11.1 percent (2-18) effort from beyond the arc. The Raiders hit 20 percent (1-5) from the foul line.

Shepherd had a 44-34 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced nine turnovers and committed eight.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg at 3 p.m.
