SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – West Chester (11-2, 7-0 PSAC East) recorded a 55-47 win over Shepherd University (8-5, 4-2 PSAC) in PSAC East men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Friday evening.
Sophomore guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Rams. He hit 4-of-9 shots from the floor with a 2-of-4 effort from three-point range. Banks was 8-of-8 from the line. He added a game-high three assists and three boards.
Senior guard
Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) contributed 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Graduate student forward
Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) added seven points and five boards.
Davante Dennis led the Golden Rams with 12 points. Joshua Walker added nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Dylan Blair and Elijah Allen also tossed in nine points.
Shepherd connected on 27.5 percent (14-51) of its field goals with a 9.1 percent (2-22) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 89.5 percent (17-19) of their free throws.
West Chester shot 33.8 percent (23-68) from the floor with a 19 percent (4-21) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Rams hit 55.6 percent (5-9) from the foul line.
West Chester had a 55-47 advantage in rebounds. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed 13.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
