EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Emily Chieml scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead East Stroudsburg (5-7, 2-4 PSAC) to a 68-65 win over Shepherd (4-10, 1-7 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at East Stroudsburg on Monday.
Sophomore forward
Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) led the Rams with 12 points and eight rebounds. She connected on 6-of-13 field goals.
Sophomore guard
Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) added a 10-point effort. Sophomore forward
Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty/Frostburg State) added nine points and six boards, while freshman forward
Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) had nine points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard
Trinity Turner (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) contributed nine points and a game-high seven steals.
Brie Droege added 15 points for the Warriors. Lacie Kringe tossed in eight points and added five assists.
The game featured 12 lead changes and five ties.
Shepherd took its last lead of the game at 65-64 on a layup by Bowman with 2:07 left in the game. The Warriors closed the game on a 4-0 run to capture the win.
Shepherd had a 37.9 percent (25-66) field goal percentage with a 33.3 percent (5-15) effort from beyond the arc. The Rams hit 58.8 percent (10-17) from the foul line.
East Stroudsburg connected on 45.5 percent (25-55) of its field goals with a 33.3 percent effort (2-6) from three-point range. The Warriors hit 66.7 percent (16-24) of their free throws.
The Warriors had a 42-35 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 20 turnovers and committed 15.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mansfield for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
