MANSFIELD, Pa. – Paris Anthony scored a game-high 15 points to lead Mansfield (6-7, 2-5 PSAC) to a 72-42 win over Shepherd (4-11, 1-8 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Mansfield on Wednesday.
Freshman forward
Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) had 12 points and four rebounds to lead the Rams. Sophomore guard
Cassidy Rhodes (Point of Rocks, Md./Brunswick) tossed in 10 points, while sophomore forward
Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had four points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Freshman guard
Corin Edsell (Winchester, Va./John Handley) contributed five points, four boards, and a team-high three assists.
Sarah Hortin added 14 points and 14 rebounds for Mansfield. Danae Ellzy had 14 points, while Katie Sheeler tossed in 11.
Mansfield had a 31-22 lead at halftime.
The Mountaineers used a red-hot shooting effort in the third quarter to take control of the game. They connected on 10-of-14 field goals (71.4 percent) and 4-of-5 three pointers (80 percent).
Shepherd had a 25 percent (16-64) field goal percentage with a 27.8 percent (5-18) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 55.6 percent (5-9) from the foul line.
Mansfield connected on 41.5 percent (27-65) of its field goals with a 28.6 percent effort (6-21) from three-point range. The Mountaineers hit 63.2 percent (12-19) of their free throws.
The Mountaineers had a 52-38 rebounding advantage. Shepherd forced 19 turnovers and committed 21.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Millersville for a 1 p.m. contest.
