Shepherd Volleyball Knocks Off Fairmont State in Five Sets

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Shepherd University (16-5) downed Fairmont State (15-9) in five sets in non-conference volleyball action at Fairmont State on Tuesday evening. The Rams posted a 25-19, 21-25, 26-28, 25-20, 15-10 win.

Junior middle hitter/right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) led the Rams with 15 kills and a match-high six blocks.  Junior outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) contributed 12 kills and two aces. Junior middle hitter Rylee Lenz (Earleville, Md./ Bohemia Manor) added 11 kills and three blocks. 

Senior setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) posted a match-high 46 assists and a pair of aces. Sophomore setter Sofia De Los Mozos (Lake Worth, Fla./Trinity Christian Academy Tusculum) had 19 digs for the Rams. 

Joey Borelle had a match-high 17 kills and two aces to lead Fairmont State. Josie Skinn added a match-high 28 digs. 

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 6 p.m. contest.
