Shepherd Women’s Soccer Rallies to Tie #16 West Chester

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Sophomore midfielder Anaya Lozano (Chesapeake, Va./Atlantic Shores Christian School) scored on a pass from senior forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) at the 85:09 mark to lift Shepherd University (6-1-6, 5-1-6 PSAC East) to a 2-2 tie with #16 West Chester (10-1-4, 8-1-4 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday afternoon.

Shepherd took the early lead as senior midfielder Josie Beezel  (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore) scored on a feed from graduate student midfielder Sarah Peternel (Wolfeboro, NH/Virtual Learning Academy Charter School/University of New Hampshire)  at the 5:12 mark.

West Chester tied the game when Lauren Reinhold scored on assists from Kianna Barber and Victoria Pungello at the 33:32 mark.

The Golden Rams took a 2-1 advantage on an unassisted tally by Olivia Conroy at the 50:30 mark.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Wilt (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) did not record a save for the Rams. Grace Keen recorded three saves for the Golden Rams.

Shepherd had a 10-4 advantage in shots with a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had a 5-3 margin in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host #21 Bloomsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
