SLIPPERY ROCK,
Pa. – Ike Herster scored a team-high 15 points to lead Slippery Rock (9-1, 2-0 PSAC) to a 70-61 win over Shepherd (4-5, 1-2 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Slippery Rock on Tuesday.
Sophomore guard
Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Rams. He drained 10-of-19 field goals with a 1-of-7 effort from three-point range. He was 2-of-3 from the line.
Junior guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Banks connected on 7-of-17 field goals with a 2-of-5 effort from the foul line. Sophomore guard
Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 14 points with 12 coming from beyond the arc.
Sophomore forward
Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School) grabbed eight boards and blocked a game-high three shots.
Dame Givner and Isaac James each added 14 points for Slippery Rock. RJ Sledge was also in double figures with 12 points.
The Rock had a 44-31 advantage at the break.
Shepherd connected on 40.3 percent (25-62) of its field goals with a 22.7 percent (5-22) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 50 percent (6-12) of their free throws.
Slippery Rock shot 47.3 percent (26-55) from the floor with a 44.4 percent (8-18) effort from beyond the arc. The Rock hit 100 percent (10-10) from the foul line.
Slippery Rock had a 34-33 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 10 turnovers and committed nine.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Edinboro for a 3 p.m. contest.
