SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore forward Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead Shepherd (6-19, 2-16 PSAC) to a 54-49 win over Mansfield (9-16, 5-14 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday.
Bowman connected on 7-of-10 field goals with a 1-of-2 effort from the foul line.
Sophomore guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) added nine points, seven rebounds and four steals. Sophomore guard Cassidy Rhodes (Point of Rocks, Md./Brunswick) contributed eight points and three assists. Sophomore forward Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty/Frostburg State) posted seven points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Danae Ellzy added a game-high 20 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals for the Mountaineers. Katie Sheeler added 12 points.
Shepherd had a 30-16 lead at halftime.
Shepherd had a 38.5 percent (20-52) field goal percentage with a 30.8 percent (4-13) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 66.7 percent (10-15) from the foul line.
Mansfield connected on 25.4 percent (16-63) of its field goals with 7.1 percent effort (2-28) from three-point range. The Mountaineers hit 62.5 percent (15-24) of their free throws.
Shepherd had a 49-37 rebounding advantage. Shepherd forced 17 turnovers and committed 29 turnovers..
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Kutztown for a 1 p.m. contest.
