Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Shepherd University (17-10, 13-7 PSAC) to a 58-46 win over Shippensburg (9-18, 6-14 PSAC) on Senior Night in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night.
Paar connected on 6-of-10 field goals with a 4-of-4 effort from the foul line. He added four steals, three assists, and three blocked shots.
Senior forward
Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 12 points and five boards. Sophomore guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) had eight points and a game-high seven assists, and six rebounds. Senior guard
Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) had four points and nine rebounds, while freshman guard
Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added three points and seven boards.
Marcus Frank had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders. Jaydon Smith added nine points and six boards.
Shepherd had a 31-22 advantage at the break as Poffenberger and Parr combined for 17 first-half points.
Shepherd connected on 32.8 percent (21-64) of its field goals with a 23.7 percent (9-38) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 87.5 percent (7-8) of their free throws.
Shippensburg shot 29 percent (20-69) from the floor with a 6.3 percent (1-16) effort from beyond the arc. The Raiders hit 50 percent (5-10) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 53-44 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 16.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Millersville for a 3 p.m. contest.
