SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman forward
Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) scored a team-high 13 points to lead Shepherd (7-20, 3-17 PSAC) to a 63-55 victory over Shippensburg (8-18, 5-15 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday.
Estridge connected on 6-of-9 field goals with a 1-of-1 effort from behind the arc. She added seven rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
Sophomore forward
Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty/Frostburg State) added 12 points and a team-high seven boards. Sophomore guard
Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) also tossed in 12 points, while senior guard
Jordan Carr (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) added 11 points, four boards, and two assists.
Taja Colbert led the Raiders with a game-high 19 points. Abbie Miller added seven points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Shepherd had a 38-22 lead at the break.
Shepherd had a 40.4 percent (23-57) field goal percentage with a 31.6 percent (6-19) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 61.1 percent (11-18) from the foul line.
Shippensburg connected on 32.8 percent (21-64) of its field goals with 26.3 percent effort (5-19) from three-point range. The Raiders hit 53.3 percent (8-15) of their free throws.
Shippensburg had a 47-39 rebounding advantage. Shepherd forced 20 turnovers and committed 15.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Millersville for a 1 p.m. contest.
