Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls to #15 Kutztown

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Lauren Lamorte scored five goals to lead #15 Kutztown (1-0, 1-0 PSAC East) to a 15-7 win over Shepherd University (2-1, 1-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday.

Senior attacker Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) paced the Rams with three goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) added a goal and an assist, while senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep), junior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century), and freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough) each tallied a goal. Lyon also tied Kutztown's Lailah ElBouazzaoui with a game-high four draw controls.

Freshman attacker Grace Meyer (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) contributed an assist.

Sophomore defender Luetta Seipp (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) led the defense with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.  
                                                                                                                      
Sam Graf added three goals and four assists for the Golden Bears, while ElBouazzaoui and three goals and an assist.

Kutztown had a 7-5 lead at the half.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 21 saves for the Rams. Marisa Bragg posted eight saves for the Golden Bears. Rockwell's 21 saves established a Shepherd single-game record. Rockwell shared the old mark of 20 with Hailey Bennett.

Kutztown had a 50-23 advantage in shots with a 35-15 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 16-of-20 in clears and Kutztown was 17-of-17. Kutztown had a 23-20 advantage in ground balls and a 15-10 edge in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Gannon for a noon contest.
