SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard
Annie Hunt (Ravenswood, W.Va./Ravenswood/Wheeling) came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points to lead Shepherd (5-18, 2-15 PSAC) to a 56-53 win over Bloomsburg (14-9, 8-8 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Hunt connected on 8-of-12 field goals with a 2-of-5 effort from behind the arc. She was 3-of-8 effort from the foul line. She added a team-high four assists and four steals.
Freshman forward
Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) contributed 12 points, three boards, and two steals. Sophomore guard
Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) added 12 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Sophomore forward
Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) contributed six points and a team-high eight boards.
Katelin Starr had 11 points and a game-high nine boards for the Huskies. Ella Kale added 11 points and three steals.
Bloomsburg had a 32-24 lead at the break.
The Rams trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half. The Rams rallied to tie the game at 48-48 on a three-pointer by Hunt with 5:54 left. Shepherd closed the game on an 8-5 run to seal the win.
Shepherd had a 42.6 percent (20-47) field goal percentage with a 30.8 percent (4-13) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 46.2 percent (12-26) from the foul line.
Bloomsburg connected on 40 percent (18-45) of its field goals with an 11.8 percent effort (2-17) from three-point range. The Huskies hit 75 percent (15-20) of their free throws.
Bloomsburg had a 38-27 rebounding advantage. Shepherd forced 23 turnovers and committed 17.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 1 p.m. contest.
