Shepherd Baseball Wins Eighth Straight Game

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (11-8) used a 12-hit attack to hand Salem (3-11) a 10-4 setback in baseball action at Fairfax Field on Wednesday. The Rams ran their win streak to eight games.

Salem took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI-single by Hunter Rose. 

Shepherd took a 3-1 lead in the fourth with a two-run single by sophomore third baseman Nathaniel Brookshire (Winchester, Va./ Millbrook) keying the rally.
 
Salem added a run in the top of the fifth when Aidan McCurd scored when Jose Lojo reached on an error.

Shepherd got a solo blast from Brookshire and a two-run homer from junior outfielder Nick Rubendall (East Norriton, Pa./ Pope John Paul) to highlight a five-run outburst to take an 8-2 advantage in the sixth.

Salem added a pair of runs in the seventh before Shepherd added a pair in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore designated hitter Thor Hildebrand (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) walked and redshirt catcher/first baseman Wyatt Lamb (Asbury, W.Va./Mt. Calvary Christian School (Pa.)) followed with a double. Hildebrand scored off a wild pitch and Lamb scored on a double by shortstop Ethan Burgreen (Winchester, Va./Millbrook). 

Junior pitcher Brayden Stottlemyer  (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (2.0 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 2 K, 2 BB) (2-0) picked up the win. Tristan Milik (3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 K, 3 BB) (0-1) took the loss.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Fairmont State.
