Shepherd Baseball Blanks Fairmont State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (12-8) used a 12-hit attack en route to a 9-0 win over Fairmont State (9-8) in baseball action at Dale Miller Field on Tuesday. The Rams upped their winning streak to nine games.

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as redshirt-sophomore outfielder Ethan Jones (Oakton, Va./Oakton) reached on a hit-by-pitch and scored on a single by redshirt freshman catcher Colin Ahart (Pennsauken, N.J./St. Joseph Academy).
 
The Rams added a pair of runs in the fourth as senior third baseman Aidan Greaney (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll/Frederick Community College) led off with a single and moved to second when sophomore third baseman Nathaniel Brookshire (Winchester, Va./ Millbrook) walked. Greaney later scored on a wild pitch and Brookshire was plated on a sacrifice fly by junior outfielder Bodie Pullen (Winchester, Va./James Wood).
 
Shepherd scored three runs in the sixth on an RBI-triple by junior shortstop Ethan Burgreen (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) and a two-run blast off the bat of Pullen.
 
The Rams tacked on three runs in the ninth with a two-run single by Burgreen keying the rally.
 
Pullen and Ahart each had three hits to pace the Rams.
 
Cameron Moore had a pair of hits for the Fighting Falcons.
 
Freshman pitcher Riley Morgan (Ranson, W.Va./Jefferson) got the win for the Rams with (3.0 IP, 1H, 0 R, 2 K, 1 BB) (2-0). Dylan Travinski took the loss for the Falcons (3.1 IP, 5 H, 3R, 2 BB) (0-2).
           
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Millersville for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
