CLERMONT, Fla. – Shepherd University (4-4) split a pair of games in softball action at The Spring Games on Tuesday. The Rams dropped a 4-0 decision to Southwest Minnesota State (17-8) in the early game and recorded a 7-4 win over Wayne State (8-9) in the later game.
Trailing 1-0 in the third inning against Wayne State, Shepherd plated two runs to take the lead. Sophomore catcher

Camdyn Noland (Summit Point, W.Va./Washington) was hit-by-pitch. The pair scored when senior third baseman
Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Trevecca Nazarene) reached on an error.
The Rams added five runs on five hits in the fifth to take a 7-1 advantage. Freshman outfielder
Haylee Hartman (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) belted a two-run triple to key the rally.
Wayne State added a run in the fifth on an RBI-single by Katelyn DeWItt.
The Warriors got an RBI-double from Elly Koopman and an RBI-single from Hunter Near in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Chambers went 2-for-4 to lead the Rams.
Sophomore pitcher
Madelayne Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 13 K, 2 BB) (4-0) to pick up the win for the Rams. Grace Fisher (5.0 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 3 K, 2 BB) (3-6) took the loss.
Southwest Minnesota State took a 3-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run double by Emma Humpal keying the rally.
The Mustangs added a run in the seventh on an RBI-single by Humpal.
Abby Russell went 3-for-4 to lead Southwest Minnesota State.
Noland went 2-for-4 to lead the Rams.
Karlie Miller (4.0 IP, 6 H, 0 R, (7-4) gained the win. Jordyn Marsh (3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 K, 1 BB) picked up the save (4). Freshman pitcher

The Rams return to action on Friday when they face American International at 9 a.m. and Saint Michael's at 11:30 p.m. at The Spring Games.
