Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Edged by Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Marykate Sitko and Mia Boccippio each scored four goals to lead Bloomsburg (6-3, 2-2 PSAC East) to a 13-11 win over Shepherd University (4-3, 1-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Bloomsburg on Saturday.

Senior attacker Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) each scored three goals to lead the Rams. Paredes added two assists, three draw controls, two ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers.

Junior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) and sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) each netted two goals. Harrison also added six draw controls.

Freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough) had a goal,  six draw controls, and three ground balls. Junior attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) added an assist.

Senior defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) (4 GB, 3 DC, 1 CT), junior defender Sarah Fischer (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) (2 GB, 1 CT), and sophomore defender Luetta Seipp (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) (2 CT, 1 GB) led the Shepherd defensive effort.

Emily Simpson and Brianna Austin each added two goals for the Huskies.

Shepherd opened the game on a 5-1 run and had a 7-4 advantage at halftime. King and Harrison each tallied a pair of first-half goals.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded eight saves for the Rams. Lauren Foley posted 10 saves for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg had a 28-26 advantage in shots while both teams had 21 shots on goal. Shepherd was 16-of-26 in clears and Bloomsburg was 20-of-25. Bloomsburg had a 27-21 advantage in ground balls and Shepherd had an 18-10 edge in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Millersville for a 4 p.m. contest.
