Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Downed by #2/3 West Chester

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Keri Barnett scored eight goals to lead #2/3 West Chester (9-0, 5-0 PSAC East) to a 24-9 win over Shepherd University (4-5, 1-4 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Saturday.

Senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) paced the Rams with five goals. Senior attacker Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) added three goals and a pair of assists. Paredes added five draw controls and a pair of ground balls. Her five draw controls helped her eclipse 100 for her career. She now has 103.

Freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough) added a goal. Sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) recorded three assists, while junior attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and freshman attacker Grace Meyer (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) each added one.     
                           
Senior defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) led the Shepherd defensive effort with nine ground balls, four caused turnovers, and four draw controls.

Sydney Wasdick had five goals and Kendall Fortune tallied three for the Golden Rams.

West Chester had a 12-8 lead at halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 12 saves for the Rams. Morgan Koons posted nine saves for the Golden Rams.

West Chester had a 44-25 advantage in shots and a 36-18 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd was 8-of-15 in clears and West Chester was 19-of-21. West Chester had a 30-21 edge in ground balls, while Shepherd had a 21-15 edge in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a 3 p.m. contest.
