Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Indiana (Pa.) in OT

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Macenzie Haragos scored an unassisted goal with 1:36 left in overtime to lift Indiana (Pa.) to a 12-11 win over Shepherd University (3-2) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday.

Senior attacker Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) recorded three goals and two assists and junior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) tallied three goals to pace the Rams. Senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) had two goals and a pair of assists, while sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) netted a pair of goals. Paredes added a game-high six draw controls.

Junior defender Paige Sullivan (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre De Grace) scored a goal.  Junior attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) added a pair of assists, while freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough) added another.

The Shepherd defense was led by senior defender Campbell Vitek (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) with five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Brenna Whiteside led the Crimson Hawks with three goals. Emma Mass and Maggie Boyle each added a pair.

Shepherd had a 6-4 edge at halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 16 saves for the Rams. Mia Courtalis (41:07, 8 GA, 6 saves) and Maddy Schramm (20:17, 3 GA, 3 saves) combined to post nine saves for the Crimson Hawks.

Shepherd had a 33-30 advantage in shots with IUP holding a 28-20 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 10-of-11 in clears and IUP was 14-of-18. Ground balls were even at 20-20, while Shepherd had a 14-13 edge in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Frostburg State for a 2 p.m. contest.

Notes: Kelsey King (102) went over 100 points for her career … King has tallied 81 goals and 21 assists in her career … Katie Paredes reached the 75-goal mark for her career … Destiny Rockwell recorded double-digit saves for the third time this season.
