Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls at #2 West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Keri Barnett scored five goals to lead #2 West Chester (15-0, 11-0 PSAC East) to a 20-5 win over Shepherd (4-11, 1-10 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at West Chester on Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) had a goal and an assist to pace the Rams. She added four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a draw control.

Senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep), junior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century), freshman attacker Grace Meyer (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale), and freshman midfielder Britney Warner (Hughesville, Md./La Plata) each added a goal.

Junior attacker Rebekah Forney (Walkersville, Md./Mount De Sales),  freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough), and freshman midfielder Katherine Stevenson (Middletown, Md./Middletown) each contributed an assist. Lyon added a team-high five draw controls.

Senior defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) (4 GB, 3 DC) and junior defender Paige Sullivan (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre De Grace) (1 GB, 2 CT) led the Shepherd defense.

Kendall Fortune and Sydney Wasdick each added three goals for West Chester.

West Chester had a 12-3 lead at halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 13 saves for the Rams. Morgan Koons (45:00, 5 GA, 1 save) and Hannah Cornelius (15:00, 0 GA, 1 save) combined to post a pair of saves for the Golden Rams.

West Chester had a 42-9 advantage in shots with a 33-7 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 12-of-16 in clears and West Chester was 14-of-14. The Golden Rams had a 30-15 advantage in ground balls and a 15-12 edge in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
